Describe briefly what gene therapy is and what advantages it has over other treatments?
Main Body
Gene therapy is the mutagen, modification and editing of genes to remove certain faulty or introduce certain faulty, e.g. CRISPR (as UNA modification) is a DNA Code. Advantages: (1) 'Highly selective' as organize transformation is best done, (2) food security → green revolution of India ⇒ self sufficiency (m.n.s data) which other technology could not do, (3) 'scalable' from lab to the field unlike others. However, there are certain challenges: (4) ethical concern of bias of the scientist, (5) against the law of natural law of natural selection, (6) may lead to threat to biodiversity, (7) It is a double edged sword, where effective regulation is needed with to be reaping full benefits of it.
