(2) Trilateral highway and multimodal connectivity projects through BBIN with Thailand, Myanmar etc. (3) Central Asia connectivity through Ashgabat agreement, International
North-South Transborder Corridor (INSTC). (4) Bangladesh: promotion of sailing links (Czarskala-Ashana belt), seamless border crossing etc. Issues: (1) Cross-border terrorism has stopped any cross border connectivity through Pakistan. (2) Difficult terrain due Himalayas, tropical forest etc in North-Eastern Region. (3) Regulatory clearance such as recent Supreme Court case over Himalayan roads. (4) Illegal migration of supplies leads to loss of trust among border population.
Way Forward: → Promote sustainable linkages with employment generation and skill up-gradation via local population. → Seamless border checkpoint with single window customs clearance. → Signing under lateral aid bilateral trade agreements with neighboring countries to et enhance trade links. → Cooperation between security agencies for cross border terrorism @ : India-Myanmar agreement.
