Leader of opposition → As per convention & principle opposition party becoming 70P, Pantry securing 70P while in the house select one of leaders as leader of Opposition. It is given status of Cabinet Minister in the precedence list. Role of leader of Opposition LoP: (1) Holding government accountable (2) Proper and disruption free functioning of parliament (3) As per parliamentary rules, LoP is first point of contact and representative of opposition in the house (4) LoP decides allocation of the party time to individual members during any debate. (5) LoP generally heads the parliament any committee in absence of cabinet member in the committee. Strengthening Role: This LoP has important role in parliament democracy
