Main Body
Holistic approach to the problem. Merits → Dedication to my duty No place for any wrong-doer. Losses to Maintenance team & Driver's family. Demerits → Half truth (Crisis of Conscience) c In my opinion, most ethical would be to point out responsibility of maintenance failure, along with inadequacies of checks within the system. Justification: (1) Maintenance team's inadequacies would lead to larger issues and more accidents → Against common good approach. (2) Driver is an individual but maintenance team is a system. Systemic failure affects moral corruption in falluring duty by almost everyone. Against Deontological ethics. (3) Maintenance failures would lead to reduced trust on government department of transportation → Chaos could occur. Driver's irresponsible behaviour must be also taken into account, and such issue must not be expected by enhancing professional ethics in individuals.
